Madam Yap’s Gula Melaka has been established since 2007. Their Gula Melaka are handmade with 100% pure & natural ingredients, without adding any sugar.
Coconut water (coconut flower sap) is the main component to produce coconut sugar. The coconut water is clear and translucent but after a few hours of boiling, it will become dark brown and thick which will then be poured into the bamboo mold to be solidified into “Sugar Column”. This is coconut sugar which are known as “Gula Melaka”.
Madam Yap’s Gula Melaka has a mild caramel and strong aromatic taste. It is an ideal & popular ingredient for cooking desserts, sauces, puddings, cendol, kuih-muih or even sambal. It is also best use as replacement of white sugar to coffee, tea or even soya drinks.
Gula Melaka is considered a healthier alternative to other sweeteners because it involves minimal processing with no added chemicals. Thus, it also retains high levels of plant-based vitamins and minerals that benefits to our health.
